Fixed matches: the facts

A plain guide to one of the most searched — and most abused — terms in football betting.

What is a fixed match?

A fixed match is a game whose result or events have been illegally arranged in advance, usually through bribery. Match-fixing is a crime in most countries and is investigated by police, federations and integrity units.

Can you buy fixed matches online?

Websites and social accounts selling “100% sure fixed matches” almost never have genuine inside information. Common warning signs:

  • Guaranteed wins or “sure” odds.
  • Requests for upfront payment through untraceable methods.
  • Edited or fake bet slips as “proof”.
  • Pressure to buy quickly or pay again after a loss.
